Jasenovac and Sokolovac Wolds – formerly workers’ housing settlements – are dying off. There are plans to build houses for the remaining wolds’ inhabitants in Kneževi Vinogradi, near the exit toward Suza. Mirkovac is a shining example of the surviving of wolds, with some 50 families living there. According to the 2011 Census, Mirkovac has a population of 108,  Jasenovac 35 and Sokolovac 14.

To prevent Baranja’s wolds from disappearing completely, positive examples all over the EU, as well as our own Zlatna Greda Wold, show that the use of EU funds can breathe in new life through the restoration and putting the existing industrial heritage into operation.
